5. How to apply

Applying to study a one-year honours program is easy. Applications should be submitted directly to UQ or through an approved UQ agent in your country.

Apply online

Step 1 – Choose your program

Find the one-year honours program you want to study. Ensure you meet all entry requirements and that the application deadline has not passed.

Step 2 – Contact the relevant school or faculty

Consult with the faculty and/or school about any specific application requirements, closing dates, further information about projects, and potential honours supervisors.

Step 3 – Start your application

Use UQ Online Applications to create an account.

Complete all details on the application form and include all required documents and information requests. You can save an incomplete form and return later.

You will need to provide a complete academic transcript and/or testamurs as well as a copy of your passport or national ID card with your application.

The transcript should detail all of the courses you studied and any degrees/diplomas that were awarded. You only need to submit an academic transcript for non-UQ programs.

Step 4 – Submit your application

If you are satisfied your application is complete, please submit it.

After submission, you can access your application through My Applications.

A non-refundable AU$100 fee is charged for each submitted application.

If you are unable to access UQ Online Applications, email applicationstatus@uq.edu.au to request a hard-copy form.

A non-refundable fee of AU$150 is charged if you use a hard-copy form.

Closing dates

Applications for Semester 1 are usually due by 30 November of the previous year. For Semester 2, applications are usually due by 31 May of the same year.

Some programs have different closing dates – these will be listed on the relevant Future Students program page.

Late applications might be considered, but this can't be guaranteed. You must leave enough time for the University to process your application and issue an offer.

You must also leave enough time to organise your student visa.

We can consider applications up to two years in advance, so we recommend applying early. Please note that places in some programs are offered to applicants in the order they accept.

If you have any questions or would like help with your application, please contact the University or a UQ representative in your country.

Step 5 – Manage your application

Your application will be assessed by UQ International Admissions who will contact you through UQ Online Applications with any updates or any requests for additional information.

You can also manage your application through My Applications

Log in to:

  • upload documentation
  • provide details of a referee
