5. How to apply

Applying for UQ's Doctor of Medicine (MD) is easy, with the application process varying depending on what type of applicant you are.

Provisional entry for school leavers studying Year 12 in Australia

If you’re currently studying Year 12 in Australia and wish to apply for the MD program, submit your application online through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) using the QTAC Code 721302 (MD Provisional Entry for School Leavers).

By choosing this code, you are indicating that you wish to be considered for the MD's provisional entry pathway and you agree to undertake one of UQ's undergraduate programs as a first degree. 

If you are successful in receiving an offer for a provisional entry place, you will be required to submit your first degree selection directly to UQ Admissions. More infomration on this process will be given to you by UQ Admissions if your application for the provisional entry pathway is successful.

Provisional entry for school leavers studying Year 12 abroad

If you’re currently studying Year 12 or equivalent secondary studies abroad and wish to apply for the MD program, submit your application directly to UQ or through a UQ representative in your country.

Please complete the postgraduate online application form when applying.

If you are successful in receiving an offer for a provisional entry place, you will be required to undertake one of UQ's undergraduate programs as a first degree. More information on this process will be given to you by UQ International if your application for the provisional entry pathway is successful.

Direct entry for graduates

If you have already completed a bachelor degree or equivalent, submit your application directly to UQ or through a UQ representative in your country.

Please complete the postgraduate online application form when applying.

If you are applying direct to UQ, a non-refundable AU$100 application fee will be charged when you submit your application online.

If you are unable to access our online application form, you can download a copy of the postgraduate application form (PDF, 106KB) and submit it by email to applicationstatus@uq.edu.au (the preferred alternative method), in person or by mail to UQ International. A non-refundable AU$150 application fee will be charged when submitting your application via these alternartive methods. 

Applications to UQ International are open from April each year and waitlisted once full.

UQ does not interview applicants for the medical program.

Next steps

Your application will be assessed by UQ International Admissions who will inform you by email of the outcome. For enquiries about the status of your application, send an email to applicationstatus@uq.edu.au including your full name, date of birth and student ID (if known).

If you receive an offer to study with us and choose to accept, congratulations! Shortly after accepting you will receive an enrolment pack with instructions for online class enrolment, how to pay your fees, and other information about studying UQ's MD program.
