3. Admission schemes

UQ has a range of admission schemes to encourage people to apply for certain programs or for tertiary study more generally.

Many admission schemes use adjustment factors to boost your selection rank. Common types of adjustment factors include:

  • equity adjustments
  • subject adjustments
  • location adjustments.

The maximum number of adjustments you can achieve across all schemes is capped at five.

OP Guarantee Scheme

You are guaranteed a place in most undergraduate programs if you achieve an OP 1–5 (or entry rank equivalent) and satisfy the program's prerequisites.

UQ Subject Incentive Scheme

All Year 12 students are eligible to apply for the UQ Subject Incentive Scheme, which provides up to five adjustments towards your entry rank.

Rural Access Scheme

Eligible applicants from Australian rural and regional areas can have two adjustments added to their entry rank for select undergraduate programs.

If you’ve experienced significant financial disadvantage, you may be eligible to receive five adjustments towards your entry rank and a $3000 scholarship.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Admissions Pathway

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to gain admission to the University through an alternative entry scheme.

QTAC manages the Educational Access Scheme, which provides additional support to applicants who may have experienced difficult or adverse personal circumstances.

If you're from an educationally disadvantaged and/or culturally diverse background, you may be eligible for a special entry scheme into the Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

Year 12 students from an Aerospace Gateway School may be eligible for guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Information Technology programs.
