Getting to Herston: Train

The nearest train stations to Herston campus are Windsor, Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley.

Windsor station is on the Ferny Grove-Beenleigh line, while Bowen Hills station and Fortitude Valley station are on each of Brisbane's six suburban train lines.

After catching a train to Windsor, Bowen Hills or Fortitude Valley, you will have to continue your journey by bus or by foot.

Windsor station

From Windsor station, it's a short walk to Lutwyche Road where frequent bus services run to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, or Herston.

Alternately, it's about a 25-minute walk to Herston campus through scenic suburban streets and parks.

Bowen Hills station

You will have to continue your journey by foot from Bowen Hills station. Herston campus is 1.5km from the station – about a 20-minute walk.

Bowen Hills train station is located in a light-industrial area and can feel isolated after dark. Take precautions at night.

Fortitude Valley station

From Fortitude Valley station, it's a short walk to Brunswick Street where bus services run to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, or Herston.

Alternately, it's about a 20-minute walk to Herston campus along busy city streets.

Getting to Herston: Car

Herston campus is at the junction of Bowen Bridge Road and Herston Road. Most University buildings are located on Herston Road.

From Brisbane's CBD, the most direct route to Herston is through Fortitude Valley along Gipps Street. From St Lucia campus, Herston campus is best accessed from the Inner-City Bypass.

Parking

Parking around Herston and is extremely limited. There are three privately run car parks in the grounds of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, but pricing can be steep.

Surrounding suburban streets offer some short-term parking options, but be aware Brisbane City Council parking inspectors are on regular patrol.
