UQ is serviced by an extensive and growing network of busways, which offers congestion-free, fast and reliable bus services in and out of our two bus stations – Chancellor's Place and UQ Lakes.

Services

From Brisbane's CBD, the following public bus routes travel directly to UQ:

  • 412 (Express from City to Chancellor's Place station)
  • 411 (City to Chancellor's Place station)
  • 66 (City to UQ Lakes station).

Other public bus routes that stop here are:

  • 428 (Indooroopilly to Chancellor's Place station)
  • 427 (Chapel Hill to Chancellor's Place station)

  • 209 (Carindale Interchange to UQ Lakes station)
  • 169 (Eight Mile Plains busway station to UQ Lakes station)

Getting to St. Lucia: Train

Services

The nearest train station to the St Lucia campus is Toowong, on the Citytrain Ipswich Line. From Toowong station, you can continue your journey to UQ on buses 402, 411 or 412.

You can also catch the Beenleigh/Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe/Cleveland, or Airport/Gold Coast lines to Park Road train station. From here, you can walk across the overpass to the Boggo Road Busway and continue your journey to UQ on buses 66, 29, 139, 169 or 209.

Alternatively, the Dutton Park train station on the Beenleigh/Ferny Grove train line is situated near the Eleanor Schonell Bridge. It is possible to walk to the St Lucia campus from this station, using the Eleanor Schonell bridge.

Getting to St. Lucia: Ferry

The CityCat ferry is an enjoyable and often convenient means of getting to the St Lucia campus. 

CityCat Locations

The campus CityCat terminal is located near Sir William Macgregor Drive, adjacent to the UQ Lakes bus station, close to the Eleanor Schonell Bridge. The Brisbane City Council provides a map of all CityCat stops.

Getting to St. Lucia: Bicycle

The St Lucia campus is easily accessed by bicycle, with a safe riverside bicycle path and the Eleanor Schonell bridge connecting the campus to the Brisbane CBD and surrounding suburbs. Find out about bicycle travel to UQ from the Cycling@UQ website. There are secure bike parking facilities (Bike Box) as well as bike racks across campus.

CityCycle

Cycle your way around Brisbane with the city's public network of 2000 bikes and 150 bike stations located every 300 to 500 metres. Take a look at the station map to find your closest CityCycle location.

Getting to St. Lucia: Car

The main entrance to our St Lucia campus is along Sir Fred Schonell Drive. From Brisbane's CBD, Sir Fred Schonell Drive is most easily accessed via Coronation Drive.

Parking

Metered parking spaces are available, as well as parking permits – both of which are in very high demand. For full information on parking availability, maps of parking areas on campus, and fees and charges please visit UQ Parking.

Due to limited spaces and the large number of students on campus we strongly recommend using public transport if possible.
