Meet Corrado from Italy, studying Health, Sport and Physical Education in Australia

UQ people
Published 11 May, 2020  ·  1 minute read

Ciao! I am Corrado and I come from a small, gorgeous city in Italy. I am currently studying a Bachelor in Health, Sport and Physical Education at The University of Queensland. I was also a Brisbane International Student Ambassador.

Why did you decide to study in Australia and specifically at UQ?

I always loved the Australian culture and its sport heritage. So when I was looking for a sport teaching degree around the globe, UQ was the best choice I could make.

What do you like most about your program?

I love the synergy between theory and practice. My lecturers always do their best to develop engaging lessons and make us excellent educators. I also really like how among our class we are all good friends — it makes studying so much more enjoyable.

Studying at UQ has made me develop a more holistic approach to life. Its curricular and extra-curricular activities are forming me not just academically, but as a more complete person, which is more than I could have hoped for.

What has been your most memorable experience at UQ so far?

My most memorable experience has been giving a welcoming speech to all new international students at the beginning of the semester at the UQ Centre for the Orientation Week. It gave me the chills to represent UQ at such an amazing occasion.

What have your experiences with the Brisbane community been like?

I do my best to engage in local events as much as possible. They really make up my best memories. I love getting lost in the city and exploring new places. I'm a sports lover and Brisbane has so many sports to follow, and play!
