Hi, my name is Hui Kwan Lo (Barbie) and I'm currently studying Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland.

What are some of your experiences with the Brisbane community?

I think it is a vibrant and friendly community with a lot of festivals and other events going on. Especially at South Bank, where there are fireworks each year for the Brisbane Festival. I love the markets in Brisbane as well. Just grab some food and listen to the music, or sometimes there's a chance to see some artistic performances.

What is the best thing about your program at UQ?

The best thing is that we have a relatively small group of students in our program and we have a lot of practicals, so we have the chance to discuss and ask our tutors and lecturers questions.

What advice would you give people from other countries about studying at UQ?

I think studying UQ is a great opportunity for students. It opens the option for you to do research and meet many other people. The library resources are great and you can book a room to study if you need your own quiet space.

What have you been able to achieve as a result of studying at UQ?

I have made a lot of friends and know more about physio and what this career is about.

I think attitude is more important. I was quite shy and afraid to ask people for help if I didn’t know them. But now I know that it is OK to ask. If you want something just ask and there is nothing to lose.
