Hi, my name is Pei Zhen and I'm studying a Bachelor of Economics majoring in International Trade and Finance at The University of Queensland.

What has been your favourite part of living in Brisbane?
The thing that I like most about living in Brisbane is that it is well-known for its safe environment and warm welcome to international students.

I feel "at home" when I am in Brisbane as people here are very friendly and they treat you with respect. I have made friends with people from different parts of the world while in Brisbane, thanks to its large international student community.

Living here, you will be able to experience the perfect weather, unbeatable lifestyle, proximity to beautiful beaches, and, most importantly, best place in the world to study.

Have you undertaken an internship while studying? What was your experience like?
I have undertaken an internship with PwC Singapore from December 2016 to February 2017. During this internship, I conducted research on companies, industry sectors, and transactions using various tools and databases available at the firm’s disposal.

I was required to work on a thought leadership / research paper and present the findings to an internal panel. Working with another intern to produce this research paper was a great opportunity for me to develop problem solving, presentation, and communication skills.

I was also given the unique opportunity to shadow a deals partner for a day where I got a look at life as a senior deals practitioner at PwC.

What skills have you gained through study at UQ?
I found that the UQ Bachelor of Economics program has allowed me to gain access to professionally-experienced lecturers and a wide range of courses that have driven my enthusiasm.

I love the fact that I get to develop a range of statistical and analytical tools that are useful for decision-making in the real world. Studying at UQ has also allowed me to be career-ready because the teaching at UQ strikes an excellent balance between industry focus and academic knowledge.

Learn to see the potential of the world. Gain the knowledge to make it better.
