Hi, my name is Sheila Horas and I'm from Indonesia. I studied Commerce at UQ. I was also a UQ International Ambassador.

Why did you choose to study in Australia, and specifically at UQ?

UQ is the primary reason I chose to study in Australia. UQ has an excellent reputation worldwide for its academic achievements.

I believed UQ could open doors to many opportunities in life. In addition, Australia is really welcoming and friendly. Thus foreigners are not intimidated by the language barrier and feel comfortable here.

What are the best things about your program at UQ?

The best thing about UQ is that they teach you based on what the textbook said, and all lecturers will give you real-world cases from the news, etc. In addition to that, lecturers are really happy and welcome all students who have interest in further discussion about their subjects.

What are your experiences with the Brisbane community?

The Brisbane community is really supportive. They are always really nice and considerate to other people.

What have you discovered, either personally or academically through your studies at UQ?

By studying at UQ, I discovered my passion for life. I met great people who taught me that the most important thing in life is having direction, to do what you love and to never give up on your dreams. This knowledge, I believe, will open new opportunities for me and ultimately make my dreams a reality.

What advice would you give people from other countries about studying at UQ?

When I talk about UQ, I talk about all the great advantages that UQ offers. I had so much fun at UQ and you will too!
