Hi, my name is Yan Lin and I studied a Bachelor of Science majoring in Food Science and Nutrition at The University of Queensland.

What has been the best thing about your program at UQ?
The best thing in my program would be the group projects with students of different backgrounds.

There is a good mix of international and domestic students, and we definitely learn a lot of things from each other. The lecturers are also genuinely concerned about our well-being and provide guidance whenever necessary.

What is life like as a UQ student?
During the weekdays I focused on studies, while the weekends were dedicated to farmers markets, strolls in the park and hanging out with friends.

Brisbane is one of the most comfortable cities in Australia. The slower pace of the city and friendly and hospitable neighbours led me to love the way of life in Australia. I would call Brisbane my home away from home with the community of friends I have.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?
For me, studying overseas was one of the things to do on my bucket list. After searching for different universities, Australian universities seemed most fitting for me.

UQ provides a wide variety of courses. Many of my seniors from Singapore raved about their experiences and the unique experience at UQ led me to seek more information about UQ.
