7 law scholarships to apply for at UQ

If you have your heart set on studying law at UQ, we offer a range of dedicated scholarships that can help make your uni experience easier and more affordable. 

UQ is ranked 39 in the world for law. And with passionate teachers, small cohorts, and cutting-edge facilities, we provide a study experience like no other.

If you want to study our Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or a law dual program, you may be eligible for scholarships that can help with living or study expenses, or open up new experiences.

You can apply for some scholarships when you apply to study at UQ, and others after you've accepted an offer and enrolled.

See what you might be eligible for: 

UQ Law School LEAD Scholarship

  • For new domestic students
  • Receive $8000 per year, for up to five years
  • Apply between 3 August and 13 November 2020

The Leadership, Excellence and Diversity (LEAD) Scholarship supports students who have experienced educational, social and/or financial disadvantage.

The scholarship provides help with living and study expenses, a dedicated academic mentor and wellbeing officer, a support network through non-residential membership of a UQ College for your first year, and regular catch ups with fellow scholarship peers.

UQ Law School LEAD Scholarship

The University of Queensland Law Alumni Association Endowment Fund Scholarship

  • For new and currently enrolled domestic students
  • Receive up to $4500
  • Apply between 3 August and 13 November 2020

This scholarship provides assistance with living and study expenses. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of a range of factors, including evidence of financial need, academic, leadership, cultural, sporting and/or community service achievements.

The University of Queensland Law Alumni Association Endowment Fund Scholarship

TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship – LLB (Hons)

  • For new and currently enrolled domestic students
  • Receive up to $5000
  • Apply between 3 August 2020 and 21 February 2021

This scholarship provides help with living expenses over a year for domestic students studying full time in Commonwealth supported places.

TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship – LLB (Hons)

McCullough Robertson Endowed Scholarship for Law Students

  • For currently enrolled domestic students
  • Receive $3000
  • Apply between 3 August 2020 and 21 February 2021

This scholarship provides help full-time students with living expenses for a year.

It is awarded on the basis of a number of factors, including academic merit, demonstrated disadvantage (including social, physical or economic), cultural diversity and personal qualities. Indigenous applicants and graduates of the Yalari program (or having a relationship with Yalari), are encouraged to apply.

McCullough Robertson Endowed Scholarship for Law Students

The Bar Association of Queensland Scholarship

  • For new and currently enrolled domestic students
  • Receive $3000
  • Apply between 1 August 2020 and 21 February 2021

This scholarship scholarship supports full-time students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. It's awarded based on a number of factors, including academic achievement, financial need and interest in studying and pursuing a career in law.

The Bar Association of Queensland Scholarship

Shiren Law Scholarship

  • For new and currently enrolled domestic students
  • Apply between 1 August 2020 and 13 November 2020

This scholarship supports students who are studying full time and experiencing financial challenges.

It's awarded based on criteria including financial need, academic achievement, and leadership, cultural, sporting or community service achievements. Preference is given to regional and remote students.

Shiren Law Scholarship

UQ Summer and Winter Research Scholarships

  • For currently enrolled domestic and international students
  • Receive $360 per week for the duration of the program
  • Apply during semester

Our Summer and Winter Research Programs give students the opportunity to gain experience working in a formal research environment with a law researcher over the summer or winter vacation period. The scholarships provide financial assistance for the duration of the program.
