Key dates and contacts

There are a number of dates and deadlines to keep track of when applying for university. Many of these dates are managed by organisations that are independent of UQ. The most significant dates to be aware of are:

QTAC dates

The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) coordinates the admissions process for publicly-funded QLD universities and TAFE. They manage several major deadlines, which are listed on the QTAC Key Dates page. These include:

  • Due date to apply and submit documents. Undergraduate applications open in early August each year. The due date is in late September. Late applications are accepted until early December for guaranteed assessment in time for the Semester 1 major offer round. See QTAC's Key Dates page for specific due dates.
  • Due date to change preferences. Your teen can make changes to their QTAC preferences until this date. We encourage applicants to list the maximum of six preferences to increase their chances of getting an offer. QTAC has more information about ordering and changing preferences.
  • Date for the release of offers (QTAC offer rounds). The major offer round for most UQ programs is in mid-January for Semester 1 and early June for Semester 2. Early offer rounds and top-up rounds take place for selected programs outside these dates. Search the QTAC website for the relevant offer rounds for each UQ program.

Release of OPs

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority is responsible for publishing OPs and Year 12 results.

In many instances, after the release of OPs in December, your teen may be able to change their QTAC preferences.

UQ dates

We'd love to see you at our UQ Open Day, where you can speak with academics, take a campus tour and attend information sessions.

There is also a range of events for prospective students and their parents throughout the year.

After the release of OPs, we host an annual OP Results Advice Night for prospective students.

The night is designed to let your teen discuss their UQ study options after receiving their OP and gives them the opportunity to speak face-to-face with experts from all our study areas.

If your teen wants to change their preferences after attending the OP Results Advice Night, they will have to do this through QTAC.
