Prerequisites

An approved equivalent Bachelor degree in Biotechnology, Science, Bioinformatics, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Medicine or Engineering; or

Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology.

UQ or equivalent GPA of 5 or above on a 7 point scale.

Agricultural Biotechnology

In this program, you will discover how technologies such as gene editing, genomics, proteomics, recombinant DNA technology, bioinformatics, and point-of-care disease diagnostics can provide solutions for global issues of food security, climate change and sustainable development. These skills are highly sought after in the food manufacturing industries (crops and horticulture), animal health industries (vaccine development), genetic improvement and breeding (plant and livestock), government bodies including those associated with quarantine and agriculture regulation, State (or Province) Government Departments such as Primary Industries and/or Agriculture, agricultural advisory boards, appropriate preparation for a PhD program in Agricultural Biotechnology, commercialisation in agriculture, agricultural management skills, skills to grow new agricultural industries, and skills for agricultural industries yet to be discovered.
