Field of Study

Guidance, Counselling and Careers

Master of Educational Studies

This field provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that are essential for today's professional guidance counsellors and career development practitioners.

This specially designed program of study allows you to develop competencies as a professional guidance counsellor and/or career practitioner for employment in schools, TAFE colleges, agencies, or as a private practitioner. The program focuses on:

  • Developing counselling competencies.
  • Understanding career development and education across the lifespan.
  • Linking assessment practices to instructional interventions.
  • Understanding ethical behaviour and practices.
  • Developing comprehensive guidance programs.

Students have the opportunity to synthesize and integrate the knowledge and skills gained in prior and concurrent learning experiences and apply them in practical settings through courses called Practicum in Guidance, Counselling and Careers.

Please note, if you enrol in both placement courses this may extend the length of the program.
