Daniel Capper

Daniel Capper heads the Careers Service at The University of Queensland (UQ). Daniel's value proposition is equipping others with personal and educational tools that allow them to excel in multiple areas of their lives, connect with people who can support their journey and motivate individuals to believe in and value themselves.

Daniel holds Master degrees in Business, Arts and Applied Economics as well as a Bachelor of Science. He is internationally trained in coaching and mentoring and uses his skills in work at private colleges and the university sector both in Australia and internationally.

The role of universities is to prepare you to make new contributions to knowledge by developing the capacity for informed and independent thought. This interactive workshop is designed to give you a sense of what it is to engage in critical and collaborative inquiry in the classroom and why it is important to the furthering of knowledge.

Associate Professor Deborah Brown

Deborah Brown is Associate Professor in Philosophy, Director of the University of Queensland Critical Thinking Project and former Associate Dean, Academic in Arts and Humanities at The University of Queensland.

In collaboration with the Queensland Government Department of Education, Deborah and her team lead the integration of ‘Teaching for Thinking’ pedagogies in classroom practice through a professional development program for teachers and the design of online critical thinking extension courses for students.

Deborah graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts and then went on to complete a Master of Arts and PhD at the University of Toronto.
