Project description

The advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) has revolutionized natural language processing, allowing users to prompt queries and receive tailored responses across various domains, from generating text and code to performing tasks. You will contribute by proposing strategies that can mitigate these privacy and security concerns.

Research environment

The successful candidate will join an exciting and diverse team of researchers and fellow PhD students and will be immersed and supported in some fantastic research environments at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) with development, training, and collaboration opportunities galore.

Scholarship

This project is supported by the Research project scholarship.

This scholarship includes:

  • living stipend of $35,000 per annum tax free (2024 rate), indexed annually
  • tuition fees covered.

This scholarship includes:

  • single overseas student health cover (OSHC) for international students.

Supervisor

Preferred educational background

Your application will be assessed on a competitive basis.

We take into account your:

  • previous academic record
  • publication record
  • honours and awards
  • employment history.

A working knowledge of privacy enhancing techniques would be of benefit to someone working on this project. Experience with NLP and LLMs as well as strong phython programming skills and knowledge of AI/ML required.  

You will demonstrate your experience on related projects through publications or sharing link to code repositories.
