How to apply (MD provisional entry)

If you’re a Greater Brisbane provisional entry pathway applicant, apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).

When you apply, use these QTAC codes:

  • 721302 – Doctor of Medicine (MD) Provisional Entry for School-Leavers (Commonwealth Supported Non-bonded Medical Place)
  • 721402 – Doctor of Medicine (MD) Provisional Entry for School-Leavers (Commonwealth Supported Bonded Medical Place).

Apply through QTAC

You don't need to apply for your preferred undergraduate degree. We'll contact you about this if you receive an offer.

Important dates

Visit the QTAC website for more information on application closing dates.

What happens next

Selection for interview

Once your application has been assessed to see if you meet the minimum entry requirements, you'll receive correspondence via your QTAC account to let you know if you’ve been invited for a multiple mini-interview (MMI).

Applicants are selected for interviews based on their aggregate score from the first 4 sections of the UCAT ANZ. UQ does not consider annotations from the UCAT ANZ test in admissions decisions.

A minimum of 50% of domestic applicants invited to the MMI will be Queensland Year 12 students.

Interview and invitation dates

QTAC will email notifications of interview invites in mid to late October 2024. This may be in the form of a notification to check your application.

Interviews will be scheduled for the week beginning 18 November 2024.

Receiving your invitation

It's your responsibility to provide the correct email address and check all inboxes (including junk and spam folders).

If you experience any issues with your booking, you must contact the Faculty of Medicine during the booking window for assistance (med.enquiries@uq.edu.au).

We won't consider requests to accept late bookings for interviews unless there are exceptional circumstances. Interview times are subject to availability.

A lack of knowledge about the booking procedure, the associated timelines or not checking your junk mail folder are not considered to be circumstances beyond your control and would not meet the criteria for a late application to be considered.

Selection for offers

Following interviews, you'll be ranked for offer alongside the other applicants.

As you can preference the 2 streams of the MD provisional entry program separately, i.e. Commonwealth Supported Non-bonded Medical Place (QTAC code: 721302) and Commonwealth Supported Bonded Medical Place (QTAC code: 721402), you'll be ranked in merit order against each program stream. You will receive an offer to the highest preference for which you are competitive.

If you receive an offer, we’ll contact you and ask you to nominate your preferred undergraduate degree.

You can find more information about admission requirements, interviews, offer selection and deferment in UQ’s Undergraduate, Doctor of Medicine, Non-Award and CSP Admissions policy.

If you’re a Greater Brisbane provisional entry pathway applicant, the way you apply depends on where your high school studies are from.

Applicants completing high school from Australia

If you’re a provisional entry applicant and you're currently completing high school from Australia, apply online through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). This applies if you're currently studying:

  • Australian Year 12 – either in Australia or overseas, or
  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia.

When you apply, use this QTAC code:

  • 721302 – Doctor of Medicine (MD) provisional entry for school leavers.

Visit the QTAC website for more information on application dates and fees.

You can complete the application yourself or apply through an approved UQ agent near you.

You'll need to pay a fee of A$100 when you submit your application. This fee can't be refunded.
