You are guaranteed a place in most undergraduate programs if you achieve an OP 1–5 (or entry rank equivalent) and satisfy the program's prerequisites.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible for the OP Guarantee Scheme if you are:

  • - currently completing Year 12 in Australia (including International Baccalaureate students),
  • - an Australian citizen currently completing an approved overseas senior matriculation program (assessed as equivalent to Queensland senior studies), or
  • - an Australian non-school leaver or mature-aged applicant.

How does it work?

Every year, an OP minimum selection threshold (or rank equivalent) is determined for each program. Minimum selection thresholds can vary from year to year.

If you achieve an OP 1–5 (or entry rank equivalent) you are guaranteed entry into your highest eligible preference in the January QTAC offer round.

Please note the OP Guarantee Scheme does not apply to later offer rounds.

If you are an interstate applicant please refer to QTAC’s ATAR / OP conversion table to check what your equivalent OP may be.

How do I apply?

There is no need to apply for the OP Guarantee Scheme – it is automatically taken into account when you apply through QTAC.
