You must meet minimum grade point average (GPA) requirements to apply for most postgraduate programs at UQ.

GPAs are a measure of academic performance based on the grades you received and the number of units you completed. At UQ, GPAs are measured on a 7-point scale, where 4 is a pass and 7 is the highest grade.

The following tables will help you compare your qualification to the UQ GPA requirements for the postgraduate program you're interested in. These tables should be used as a guide only.

If your score is just below the indicative GPA equivalent, you should still consider submitting an application. If you don't meet the GPA requirements for your preferred program, you may still be eligible for an articulation offer.

The UQ International Admissions team will assess completed and lodged applications on a case-by-case basis and calculate your GPA in line with our policies. If your transcript shows letter and number grades, the letter grades will be used to recalculate your GPA.

If you have any questions or need further information about entry requirements, email the UQ International admissions team at applicationstatus@uq.edu.au.

You must also meet the prerequisite entry requirements and the English language proficiency requirements for your preferred program. These can be found in the 'Program details' tab on each program page.

The following tables provide GPA equivalencies based on common grading scales used in a range of countries.

Find the country where you completed your undergraduate qualification. You can then view UQ's GPA requirements next to the equivalent score in the grading scale used for your qualification.

All calculations are based on completed undergraduate degrees. GPA equivalencies for postgraduate degrees may differ from the scale used below.

If you completed your undergraduate degree in China, your equivalency score is based on whether you completed your degree at a Project 211 university or non Project 211 university. Independent colleges attached to 211 universities are considered non-211 universities.

Find your preferred UQ program in the tables below to view the equivalency score required to apply.

Please note that some programs don't have a set GPA equivalency. For these programs, see the 'Program details' tab on each program page to view all entry requirements.
