This is the most comprehensive data science program in Australia, combining high-level analytical and technical skills with industry-specific knowledge and essential professional attributes. It's also one of the few programs in the world to offer you a cross-disciplinary education with direct industry contact and practical experience in the exciting field of data science.
You'll study advanced topics from computing, statistics and mathematics, and your choice of electives from business, finance, health or science. Across the program, you'll learn how to make informed decisions in data-intensive environments.
You'll use relevant big data tools and technologies and develop essential knowledge about the ethical use of data, legal considerations, communication and more. In your final year, you'll also complete projects relevant to industry.

Additional application information
Allocations of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) for postgraduate programs commenced in 2019 are yet to be determined by the Australian Government. Once allocations are determined, offers for CSPs in this program will be allocated on the basis of academic merit. The first offer round for CSPs will follow the application closing date for on time applications. If further CSP places are available, there will be a second offer round prior to the commencement of the program. Once all CSPs have been exhausted, offers may be made on a tuition fee paying basis.

International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Master of Data Science are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).
There are a number of requirements you must satisfy before a visa is granted, including the genuine temporary entrant (GTE) requirement.

This indicative annual fee is the cost of enrolling in the Master of Data Science for the 2021 academic year. It is calculated based on a standard full-time study load (16 units per academic year).
If you enrol in a larger or smaller study load, your fees will be calculated on a proportionate basis. All fees are reviewed annually.

This indicative annual fee is the average cost of enrolling in the Master of Data Science at 2021 fee rates. It is calculated based on a standard full-time study load (16 units per academic year).
The average fee would be less for part-time study. Actual fees will vary according to your choice of courses, their unit value and the time you take to complete this program.
Fees may be higher in later years as all fees are reviewed annually.
A limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are offered for this program on the basis of academic merit. Once all CSPs have been exhausted, offers may be made on a tuition fee paying basis.
